Is there a Sam app?
There is a completely free app for the family to access wellness reports, view conversation summaries, set up reminders, and call/message your loved one. The app is not required to use Sam, but it makes the experience better for the whole family! The app is meant for your family, not for your senior.
How does Sam work?
Sam is a smart voice companion, and works through smart conversations that empower your senior living independently to thrive. You can also receive daily reports, set up reminders, and call your senior directly through the Sam app, facilitating peace of mind for the family.
How is privacy protected?
We are proud to be privacy-first and privacy is very important to us. We are certified as compliant under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which means that we adhere to national standards for protecting sensitive patient health information. As much data as possible is processed locally, so it never leaves your home. All your data is encrypted and we never store or see it. We're not a big corporation that needs to harvest your data—we're just three grandkids working on our passion. We believe privacy is more important than ever, and it's our mission to deliver a safe and secure experience to you and your family.
Does Sam have a subscription?
No. There is no subscription. In later batches, we may opt to include a subscription, but our promise to you: by joining the Sam family now, you will be grandfathered and your Sam will forever be subscription-free.
Does Sam need to be plugged in?
Yes. Sam is plugged into the wall through a USB-C cable. The cable and brick are provided.
Does Sam require WiFi or the internet?
Yes. You can pair your Sam to the internet in one step.
What languages does Sam speak?
Sam speaks over 70 languages right now, including English, Spanish, French, Russian, Hindi, Mandarin, and Cantonese. If you speak a language that's not currently supported, just reach out and we'll add it for you. We want to make Sam the best experience possible for your family.
What does voice-first mean?
Voice-first means that all the senior needs to do is talk to it. It's almost like a home smart assistant. This simplifies the process for them, reduces eye strain from avoiding small screens, and makes Sam super simple to use: meaning that you and your loved one can communicate more, bringing the family together.
What does the setup look like?
Setup is easy and simple. Download the app and pair the device to your internet in two taps!
What does Sam actually do?
Sam can do a few things! Firstly, Sam conducts automatic daily check-ins to ensure your senior is doing well. Secondly, Sam can have natural conversations with seniors to provide companionship. Through these conversations, Sam detects any early warning signs or red flags and lets you know immediately, so you can step in when it matters. Sam can also surf the web and share information, so your senior can access the internet without difficulty. Thirdly, Sam has reminders, so seniors never miss a day of medication or a family dinner. Last but not least, Sam has real-time calling and messaging, so you can talk to your senior straight through Sam, removing the hassle of technology for your loved one and bringing the family together. This is a beta version of Sam, but we're a small team that moves fast. If you want a feature added, we can usually ship it within the week.
Is Sam easy to use?
No screens, no apps, no buttons. We built this to make technology easy for our grandparents to use. All you need to do is talk to Sam, and Sam will respond!
Is Sam a medical or clinical device?
No, Sam is not a medical or clinical device. Sam will not diagnose medical conditions, nor will Sam act in place of a therapist or doctor. While Sam does provide valuable insight into your loved one's general wellness and trends over time based on non-medical, non-clinical analysis, your family should not refer exclusively to Sam for evaluating your senior's physical or mental condition, as that is not Sam's role. Sam's role is to bring you more awareness of your loved one while bringing the family together.
Are there free returns?
Yes! Return within a year for a free refund. In the incredibly low chance that your Sam stops working, we'll send you another one for free.
